Workshop with Elias Cohen at Winter Tanz at TanzFabrik Berlin 6-8 of January 2012
Elias Cohen will be giving a unique workshop at TanzFabrik Berlin in January 2012 based on the development of Martial Arts into Performance Practices. Within martial arts, intuition and action are simultaneous. The workshop applies this key principle to the context of physical theatre-dance practice and research, while connecting different internal and external martial arts styles (mainly Qigong, Aikido and Kung Fu). This work develops the base for a creative body language that allows us to move ourselves with an enormous inner force, precision and flexibility in improvisations and dance composition.

After a successful work period in April in Kerala (South India) where Elias Cohen has directed the spectacular Physical and Visual Theatre production of “Tsunami Express” with 18 Indian performer supported by the Cultural Goverment of Kerala and the Sangeet Natak Academi. New exciting productions and festivals are growing in India and KiM (Kosmos in Movement) is happy to be involved in that vibrant development. Performance Development 2012
Due to frequent requests and an extensive tour for next year KiM- Physical Theater is now offering an individual coaching called "Performance Development" instead of our 3-month course for the year 2012. We are now accepting only 6 projects to work on (group, duo or solo) for creative ideas that can be developed between January and mid April 2012.
The work is embedded in the regular Ma-Ai Training (Mon to Fri, 10-13hr) for individual performing artists who would also like to train while developing their own projects within a 4-week to 6-week period in Berlin. This Performance Development includes beside the training with other professional dancers/ movers, an individually designed coaching twice/ week with staff from Berlin Post School and work-in-progress presentations every second week with feedback sessions. Accordingly, to the needs we can also arrange rehearsal spaces.

Bridging KiM- Physical Theater methodologies with Transpersonal Psychology in collaboration with Institut für Theatertherapie (ITT)
As part of the further education at Institut für Theatherapie (ITT) Elias Cohen was invited to give a weekend workshop connecting the practice of physical theatre approaches developed within the perspective of transpersonal psychology. It will take place in Berlin on the weekend of 24th-25th September 2011 at ETI (Europäisches Theaterinstitut, Berlin- Mitte).

KiM Physical Theater presents “Trembling Walls” , our most recent performance, at the end of September as one of the closing events of Mica Moca Project Berlin, which has been one of the most exciting and wonderful site- specific locations in Berlin. In the project “Trembling Walls” we confront ourselves creatively, openly, visually and physically with different sources of beliefs. We want to embody them and we would like you to witness that.

Physical Theater-Dance Intensive Workshop & Performing Experience
07th November to 04th December 2011, Kerala-India
Kosmos in Movement (KiM) Physical Theater-Dance Platform (Berlin) in collaboration with Sadhana Centre for Creative Practice (India) is happy to announce our one month intensive retreat workshop/performance in Kerala, India.
This experience is guided by theatre director/dancer and Movement Researcher Elias Cohen and it is fully complemented with the presence of Manu Chalissery (Indian performer, kalaripayyat artist and singer), supervised by Sri.Lakshmanan gurukkal (Director of Hindustan Kalari Sangham, Temple of Kalaripayattu & Ayurveda), Electric Monsoon (experimental music band of souh India) and different areas of practice and theory of meditation, martial arts, rhythm, South indian vocal work, ayurvedic and yogic knowledge.
Mornings are dedicated to training and research and afternoons for creation and composition of performative material. We will bring the research into a concrete performance that will be shown in different places and landscapes of Kerala.

KiM is currently holding workshops for professional stage artist in Buenos Aires and Santiago.Both workshops are already booked out.
After a successful premier of "Sisyphus Rock" in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the Clipa Festival in July 2010 with acclaimed critics and South India at the Kerala International Theater Festival in December 2010, the next performances will be in Santiago de Chile in May. More shows for Europe are also in preparation for this year.
After the hit of "Kerala Express"- a visual, musical spectacle involving 40 performers, musicians and dancers from South America and India - as the closing event for the International Theater Festival of Kerala, artistic director Elias Cohen was re-invited by the Cultural Ministry of Kerala to develop a touring performance in March. The production is planned to tour throughout India and South America this and the following year. The premier of this new version will be in April 2011 in Kerala.
Lilla O Jogo de Deus, will have one month season from November- December 2010 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Lilla O Jogo de Deus ( or the Play of God) is a performance inspired by the indian wisdom game "Lilla". This play was created and directed by Elias Cohen in 2007 with "Quasi 9 Teatro" and has since then won several awards within Brazil. The performance will be presented from 19 November to 19 December 2010 at TUSP (Theatre of Sao Paulo University), Brazil.

Intensive Course for Physical Theater- Dance in August 2010, Berlin
KiM [Kosmos in Movement] is offering for the second time its unique program in form of the international intensive course for Physical Theatre- Dance in August 2010.
After the successful pilot project of the one- month course last year KiM organizes the second version deepening the knowledge, practice and theory in the field of the performative stage arts.
The course gives a solid platform of a synthesis between various performance practices and theory based on the complexity of the stage arts. For more information, please go to Workshop.

The Berlin Post School with Tanzfabrik Berlin has been swiflty started with participants from Germany, Spain, Portugal, Chile, Brazil, Australia and India. Our intensive program which is unique in its kind for Europe is for professional dancers and physical theatre artists had so far Nayoung Kim (Pina Bausch), Max Schumacher (Post Theater New York/ Tokio/ Berlin) and Shannon Cooney (contemporary dance, Toronto/ Berlin) as guest teachers and the regular Monday morning kick off Kung Fu training at the Kung Fu academy as well as the amazing Gaga training from Israel with Shai Faran with still to come collaborator Minako Seki (Japanese modern Butoh) and another Master Class with Lisa Densem (former member of Sasha Waltz). Elias Cohen is leading from 02 of November 2009 the regular practice of Body Weather KiM Training. This is a demanding and complete body mind work out relevant for dancers of any style, actors and movers in general. The training comes also with an effective system of body manipulation originally created by Chinese acrobats.

Elias Cohen got the prize as “Best Director” at the Sao Paulo Theatre Festival with the play “Lilá o Jogo de Deus”. The piece was created by E. Cohen with the final year student from the Theatre Department at Unicamp University (Sao Paulo). Due to its success it is now touring as a professional piece in several cities and states of Brazil.
The well known japanese Butoh dancer and choreographer Minako Seki is giving a unique, long and intensive workshop of 5 weeks from 11th January to 12 February 2010 in Berlin. To complement Minako’s teachings there will be collaborators as Elías Cohen (Physical Theatre-Dance) and Christa Flaig (African Dance)
